Two crushed under train wheels in Nilphamari

Two motorcyclists were killed after being hit by an intercity train at Gyanadas Kanaikata village of Palashbari union in Sadar upazila here this morning.


The deceased are Santosh Roy, 40, son of Kaltu Roy of Arajidalua village in Chawrabargachha of Sadar upazila and Bhavesh Roy, 28, son of Sentu Roy of the same area, reports BSS. 

Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge of Syedpur Railway Police Station Mahmud-un Nabi said a collision between a Dhaka-bound "Chilahati Express" train and a motorcycle occurred around 7:30 am in the area as the motorcyclists attempted to cross the railway tracks riding on the bike. At that time, the train hit their motorcycle and dragged it for nearly a kilometer, he said.

Both of them died on the spot, the OC added.
