A man and his daughter were killed as a bus hit their three-wheeler in Thakurgaon’s Khoshbazar area on Thakurgaon-Panchagarh highway on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Ashraful Islam, 50, a resident of Khulishakuri post office para under Thakurgaon sadar upazila, and his daughter Rubaiya Khatun ,15, a class nine student of Boda Pilot Girls' High School.

Bhulli police station officer-in-charge Saiful Islam said Ashraful Islam was driving his three-wheeler for taking his daughter to school.

The vehicle overturned when a Dhaka-bound bus heading towards Panchagarh hit it behind around 8:30 am, leaving Ashraful on the spot, he said quoting witnesses.

Locals rescued critically injured Rubaiya but she died on the way to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital, reports UNB.

The OC said police seized the bus but the driver and his assistant fled.

Legal action will be taken, he said.
