Couple killed in Netrokona road crash

A couple was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in front of Paboi Sheikh Para Factory on the Shyamganj-Jaria highway in Purbodhola Sadar upazila of the district this evening.


The deceased were auto-rickshaw driver Nizam Uddin, 50, and his wife Rokeya Akhter, 45, of Chowchara village in Sadar upazila of the district.

The accident occurred when a pickup van collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw in the area, leaving Nizam and Rokeya dead on the spot and injured their daughter Sumaiya and Nizam's brother-in-law, reports BSS.

Locals rescued them and sent to local hospital. Police arrested the driver of the pickup van, Purbodhola Sadar Thana officer-in-charge Nurul Alam said.
