A sub-inspector (SI) of Dakkhin Khan Police Station was killed after being hit by a train near Airport Railway Station in Uttara on Saturday night.

The victim, KM Monsur Ali, hailed from Pabna and was posted at the Dakkhin Khan Police Station under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Officer-in-charge of the police station Zainal Abedin said Monsur was returning to his residence in the Baunia area of Dhaka by motorbike after duty at the Hajj camp.

While returning home, the OC said, his motorbike broke down and he fixed it, and then was walking along the railway track, talking on his phone, when a train hit him around 9:24pm at Road No-10, Sector 4 of Uttara.

He was rushed to Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival, reports UNB.

Legal proceedings in this regard are underway, the OC added.
