5 Children Among 6 Burnt in Noakhali Autorickshaw Blast

Six individuals, including five children, sustained burns in a CNG-run autorickshaw explosion in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali on Wednesday evening.


The incident occurred around 6:30 pm near the Globe Factory, located along the Maijdi-Chourasta regional highway in the Darbeshpur area of Choumuhani Municipality.

Dr. Rajib Ahmed Chowdhury, Residential Medical Officer (RMO) of Noakhali General Hospital, reported that five of the victims were admitted with burns covering 5-7% of their bodies. Fortunately, all of them are in stable condition and out of immediate danger.

The injured were identified as:

    Kohinur Hossain (55), daughter of Abdul Barik Hekim from Howlader Bari in Noannoi Union, Sadar Upazila.

    Shahriar (9), son of Anwar from Nazirpur area in Choumuhani Municipality.

    His daughters, Samia Akter (14) and Ruhi (11).

    Tawhid (5), son of Iqbal from the same ward.

    Shahna (10), Tawhid’s sister.

According to witnesses, the autorickshaw had just left Maijdi, heading toward Chourasta in Begumganj, when the cylinder on board suddenly exploded in front of the Globe Factory. Locals rushed to the scene and immediately transported the victims to Noakhali General Hospital, a 250-bed facility.

Due to the severity of her injuries, Kohinur Hossain was transferred to Dhaka for advanced treatment after receiving initial care.

Begumganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liton Dewan stated that he was unaware of the incident but assured that an investigation would be conducted.
