Biker dies as truck runs over motorcycle in Savar

Savar, May 31 - A motorcycle rider died and another was seriously injured when a truck ran them over on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in front of New Market in Savar at 10 pm on Thursday.

Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shah Jaman confirmed the matter .

Eyewitness Fakir Chan, a local businessman, reported that a speeding truck moving towards Dhaka hit the motorcyclists from behind, killing the rider on the spot and leaving the passenger unconscious on the road. Locals rescued the injured and admitted him to the hospital.

The identities of the victims were not immediately known, added the OC.

Police recovered the body. Traffic jam caused by the incident was cleared around 11 pm after an hour effort of Savar Highway Police and Savar Police Station.-UNB
