Five killed in Joypurhat road accident

At least five people were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto rickshaw in Maligram area under Khetlal upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as CNG-run auto rickshaw driver Amjad Hossai, 51, passengers Nafiz, 23, Sirajul Islam, 60, Shahnaz Begum, 45, and Shahinur Begum, 38, reports BSS.

The accident occurred when the Khetlal-bound CNG-run auto rickshaw collided head-on with a truck in the area around 11 am, leaving two CNG passengers dead on the spot and four others seriously injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khetlal police station Rajibul Islam said.

The injured were taken to Khetlal upazila health complex where Nafiz and Sirajul succumbed to their injuries and another injured Shahnaz Begum died at the district Modern Hospital, he said.
