Three tourists died after being swept away by strong currents while bathing at Himchari beach in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday evening.

One person was rescued alive, while two others remained missing.

Ramu Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Zillur Rahman confirmed the incident, saying a group of tourists had gone to the beach near the museum beside Marina Resort.

They were swept away by waves and strong currents while bathing, he said.

Locals later rescued one person alive and sent him to hospital.

The UNO said the bodies of three tourists had been recovered from the scene. Police were conducting a search operation for the two missing tourists.
