4 Bangladeshis killed in Saudi Arabia road crash

Four Bangladeshi expatriates were killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia while travelling from Taif to Jeddah on Monday night.

The accident occurred when an Innova car lost control on the Riyadh-Taif highway, around seven kilometres after Ridwan Bridge towards Al-Hawiyah.

The victims were identified as Karim Uddin, Khalid Mia, Amin Mia and Shah Alam, all hailed from Sylhet.

Among them, Karim Uddin and Khalid Mia were residents of Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet, according to the Ministry of Overseas Employment and Expatriate Welfare.

The bodies are currently kept at Al-Muwayh Hospital in Saudi Arabia.

Expressing deep shock and sorrow over the deaths, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury and State Minister Md Nurul Haque said the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia is maintaining constant communication with the local authorities.

They said steps would be taken to bring the bodies back to Bangladesh at the earliest and ensure necessary government assistance and compensation for the bereaved families.

The minister and state minister prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved families. - UNB
