
Of them, two people were crushed under a train in Gopalganj, and another was crushed under the wheels of a pickup van at Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur district. Besides, another person died in a wall collapse in the Jamalpur union under the same upazila of the district.
Police and hospital sources said one Mehedi Sheikh, 25, son of Babul Sheikh of Noapara village and Hasib Gazi, 20, son of Shah Alam Gazi of Bawkhola village, both under Kashiani upazila of the district, were crushed under the wheels of a train near Maheshpur rail station at about 11:00 pm last night.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kashiani Thana Md Mahfuzur Rahman told BSS that the victims were crushed under the wheels of the Khulna-bound express train 'Ruposhi Bangla' after 10 pm last night. Local people saw the severed parts of their bodies on the railway tracks this morning and informed the police of the matter, the OC said, adding that police later recovered the severed body parts of both the victims.
After hearing the news, a team of rail police from Rajbari rushed to the spot and handed over the bodies of the youths to their relatives after completing legal formalities.
In another accident, a motorcyclist named Md Zahid Hossain, 52, was hit by a pickup van near Kaliganj-Ghorashal bypass when he was heading towards Ghorashal on Tuesday night. The motorcyclist died on the spot and the pickup managed to flee from the scene.
Zahid was the son of Abdul Khaleque of Chutiakathi village under Nesarabad upazila of Pirozpur district. He was a salesman of a private company in Ghorashal town.
Besides, Matiur Rahman of the Jamalpur area under Kaliganj upazila died in a wall collapse on Tuesday night while he was sleeping in his earthen house. He was an employee at Janata Jute Mill in the Ghorashal area.
Lawful measures were taken in connection with these deaths by the respective police stations, reports BSS.
