Two killed in truck-motorcycle collision in Rajshahi

Two teenagers were killed and another was injured after a truck hit a motorcycle in front of Kesharhat Degree College under Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi on Friday night.


The accident occurred at around 8:30pm when a drum truck heading towards Rajshahi rammed the motorcycle from behind and fled the scene, said Mohanpur Fire Service Leader Rezwan Mondal.

He said three people riding the motorcycle sustained serious injuries in the accident.

A team of Mohanpur Fire Service rushed to the spot after receiving the information, rescued the injured and took them to Mohanpur Upazila Health Complex.

One of the victims, Limon, 16, son of Shafiqul Islam of Singhmara village in Mohanpur upazila, died on the spot.

Later, doctors at the health complex declared another victim, Ratul Mia, 15, son of Rafiz Uddin of Sankoa village, dead.

The injured Swadhin Mia, 17, was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for better treatment.

Additional superintendent of Mohanpur police, Helena Akhtar confirmed the incident.

Police seized the truck involved in the accident, but its driver and helper managed to flee. Efforts are underway to arrest them, reports BSS.
