At least four people were killed after a pickup van crashed into a parked truck in Tangail’s Sakhipur upazila early Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 5:00 am in the Kalia area along the Sakhipur–Sagardighi road, according to police.

Officer-in-Charge of Sakhipur Police Station Helal Uddin confirmed the fatalities.

He said a poultry-laden pickup van rammed into a bamboo-loaded truck parked on the roadside in the Ghonarchala area of Kalia, leaving four people aboard the pickup dead on the spot.

The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.

Police recovered the bodies and took them to Sakhipur Police Station. Efforts are underway to identify the victims, after which the bodies will be handed over to their families following legal procedures, the OC added.
