Bus plunges into Padma from pontoon at Daulatdia

A bus fell into the Padma River from the pontoon of Daulatdia Ferry Terminal in Goalanda upazila of Rajbari on Friday morning.

Goalanda Upazila Nirbahai Officer (UNO) Sathi Das said the Dhaka-bound bus from Kushtia plunged into the river around 9:25am.

She, however, said there was no passenger in the bus when fell into the river. “There is still no report of any casualty,” she said, adding that they received no missing report, either.

The UNO, who rushed to the spot on information, said the driver and his helpers were rescued with the help of locals and taken to hospital.

Earlier, on March 25, 2026, another bus, carrying around 40 passengers, fell into the mighty river from the pontoon, killing at least 26 people, reports UNB
