Two children were killed in separate road accidents today in Shahzadpur upazila of the district.

The deceased were identified as Sara Khatun, 8, daughter of Sabuj Pramanik of Haldighar village in Santhia upazila of Pabna district, and Ahammad, 7, son of Alamgir of Mashipur village under Garadah Union in Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj district.

A CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a salt-laden “votvoti”, a shallow engine-driven vehicle, near the Dilruba Bus Stand area under Shahzadpur upazila at around 11 am, leaving Sara Khatun dead on the spot and injuring her father Sabuj Pramanik, mother Mita Khatun, sister Soha Khatun and brother Ayan.

Meanwhile, Ahammad was killed after being run over by a truck while crossing the road in the Mashipur area on the Bogura-Nagarbari highway this afternoon, reports BSS.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Ismail Hossain said the bodies of the two deceased were handed over to their families after completion of legal procedures.
