Woman, child killed in Narail train accident

An unidentified woman and a child were killed after being run over by a Benapole-bound train in Barashula Chitra Bridge area of Narail Municipality on Saturday afternoon.


According to police and local sources, the incident occurred around 1.15 pm when the train was approaching the Chitra River railway bridge. Witnesses reported that the woman, carrying the child in her arms, climbed onto the railway bridge shortly before the train arrived, reports BSS.

Both victims died on the spot after being struck by the train.

Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Narail Sadar Police Station Ajay Kumar Kundu said that authorities are currently working to identify the deceased woman and child.

Further details regarding the circumstances of the incident are yet to be confirmed.
