Two brothers killed in Nilphamari road accident

Two brothers were killed and another child was injured in a tragic road accident in Jamtoli area of Purba Sutipara under Sadar upazila here last night.

The deceased were identified as Md. Sihab Hossain, 19, and his younger brother Md. Sowad, 6, sons of Tariqul Islam Babu, resident of Paschim Kuchiarmor area of the upazila.

The accident occurred around 12 midnight on the Nilphamari-Saidpur highway when they were returning home from local Textile market. At that time, a speeding drum truck heading toward Nilphamari struck them from behind, crushing two brothers on the spot. 

The injured child was taken to Nilphamari General Hospital.

Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zillur Rahman confirmed the incident, saying that the truck driver fled immediately after the accident. Efforts are underway to identify the truck, reports BSS.
